Afghanistan National Household Survey

Project Status:

Ongoing Projects

Lead Faculty:

Johannes Ohnmacht

The Afghan National Housheold survey will encompass about 25,000 household (175,000 persons) in all 34 provinces of Afghanistan. It is tjhe first chance to look comprehensively at the status of women and children since the Taliban took control of government. The results will provide point by point comparisons of the status of women and children with the 2018 Afghan National Survey for which Gilbert Burnham was the PI, and analysis was conducted by KIT and JHU. The verbal autopsy component for mothers and children will be an important benchmark for comparison with previous finding. Results will provide the humanitarian community guidance and direction for relief activities.
