Geeta Nanda

Dr. Geeta Nanda is the Director of Research for Sexual, Reproductive, Maternal, and Newborn Health (SRMNH) at the International Rescue Committee. She is a social and behavioral scientist with over twenty-five years of research and technical expertise in global health and development.

She leads field-based implementation and operational research studies on SRMNH in fragile and conflict-affected contexts that aim to design, test, and provide women-centered, life-saving interventions to the most vulnerable populations. Dr. Nanda’s current work with the EQUAL Research Consortium focuses on maternal and newborn health in humanitarian contexts. Before joining the IRC, she was with Family Health International 360 for fifteen years, leading and overseeing multiple scientific studies. She has conducted research in several countries, including Albania, Bangladesh, Benin, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, India, Kenya, Malawi, Malaysia, Nigeria, Somalia, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia.

Dr. Nanda holds a DrPH from Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health, an MHS from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, and a BA from Brown University.
