Ken is the founder and principal of The Vanguard Group LLC, a firm advising on leadership and organizational transformation. He is also the founder of The Vanguard Forum, which brings together the next generation of top leaders in business with current and former CEOs for dialogue and development around high level leadership capabilities.
Previously, Ken participated in the senior management teams driving the successful transformations of companies under stress into high performance organizations, including Bausch + Lomb, Schering-Plough, and Pharmacia Corporation.
Before taking on those roles, Ken was a public affairs consultant with Burson-Marsteller in London. Earlier, he was a writer and correspondent with Time Magazine, including serving as bureau chief in Eastern Europe covering the fall of the Soviet Union and the democratic revolutions of the region.
Ken is co-board chair for Community Solutions, a not-for-profit that is a world leader in helping disadvantaged communities optimize existing resources to make measurable social change at scale. He also serves on the board of the Hudson Union. The Hudson Union facilitates interviews and dialogue with leaders ranging from the arts to science, business and government. Ken is also on the board of Parallel Exit, the New York City-based pioneering company in physical theater.
Ken received a B.A. from Amherst College and subsequently studied at University College, Oxford. He grew up in Germany, Italy, and the U.S.
