Bio:

For Bhakti Hansoti, M.B.Ch.B., FACEP, training began in the international setting with medical school at the University of Edinburgh and foundation training in London. This transatlantic upbringing and training combined encouraged an appreciation of the diversity of emergency medicine in different resource settings. She completed a residency in Emergency Medicine at the University of Chicago (UoC). Over the years she has maintained a deep-seated interest in international emergency medicine while working in clinical settings such as Liberia, India, Ghana, Jamaica, China, Nepal, Uganda and South Africa.

To reinforce this passion in global health she completed a fellowship in International Emergency Medicine and Public Health at Johns Hopkins, and a Masters in Public Health at The Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, concentrating in epidemiology and biostatistics. She has recently been awarded a Fogarty fellowship, which she will complete over the next two years at University of Cape Town in South Africa where she is currently located. In addition to her research in Cape Town Dr. Hansoti is an instructor at the University of Cape Town and teaches two courses on clinical research methods. Nationally and Internationally Dr. Hansoti holds several leadership position in professional committees, most recently she has taken on the role of president elect for the Global Emergency Medicine Academy (GEMA) at SAEM.

Dr. Hansoti has research interests in evaluating emergency care and acute care interventions in low resource settings internationally. This is intimately tied with development of research methodology and validated outcome metrics to suitably evaluate acute care intervention in low resource settings. Dr. Hansoti also has an interest in the ethics of acute care research in culturally diverse environments.
